Risk of Harm by [Lucie Whitehouse]

Robin Lyons is back in her hometown of Birmingham and now a DCI with Force Homicide, working directly under Samir, the man who broke her heart almost twenty years ago.

When a woman is found stabbed to death in a derelict factory and no one comes forward to identify the body, Robin and her team must not only hunt for the murderer, but also solve the mystery of who their victim might be.

As Robin and Samir come under pressure from their superiors, from the media and from far-right nationalists with a dangerous agenda, tensions in Robin’s own family threaten to reach breaking point. And when a cold case from decades ago begins to smoulder and another woman is found dead in similar circumstances, rumours of a serial killer begin to spread.

In order to get to the truth Robin will need to discover where loyalty ends and duty begins. But before she can trust, she is going to have to forgive – and that means grappling with some painful home truths.

Hooked From Page One turns 5! #giveaway #competition #win

I can’t believe it’s been five years since I first pressed the publish button when my blog went live on blogspot on the 1st June 2016, I moved to WordPress the following year in 2017. I have read some incredible books in that time and I have found new favourite authors who I probably would never have come across had it not been for blogging. It’s also been amazing to be part of the blogging community and I have made many friends through this way. I really had no idea what I was doing when I first started and I had no idea that I would still be doing it five years later.

Through blogging I’ve had the privilege of meeting some of my favourite authors and I have also gained confidence to start attending book festivals and other book events.

My first post which I published was a book review for The Widow by Fiona Barton and if you would like to check out my very first review you can do so by clicking here. I must admit, it does make me cringe when I read my earlier reviews. I hope they have improved over time.

To say thank you for sticking with my blog over the last five years, I’m giving away a £15.00 Amazon gift card. To enter, all you have to do is follow my blog and leave a comment below. You can follow my blog by clicking on the follow blog button on the right hand side, if you have a WordPress account, or by email. This competition will run until 23.59 p.m. UK time, Friday, 4th June 2021. One winner will be selected as random. Good luck!

Hooked From Page One turns 4 #giveaway #competition

On the 1st June 2016, when I first started on blogspot, I never thought I’d still be blogging four years later. I often go back to my early reviews, and I can’t help but feel embarrassed about some of the early ones I wrote, but it has been interesting to see how they have developed over time. I never thought as well that people would take the time to read what I had written and follow my blog.

What has made the last four years all the more enjoyable is the interaction I’ve had with other bloggers and readers of my blog as well.

To thank you for sticking with my blog over the last few years, and for sharing and commenting on my posts, I’m giving away a £15.00 Amazon Gift Card.

To enter all you need to do is comment on this post and follow my blog and I’ll select a winner at random. The deadline to enter is midnight on Friday, 5th June 2020. The winner will also need to provide me with their email address. Good luck!

What do you do when someone takes advantage of your greatest weakness?

When Laura wakes up after her office Christmas party and sees a man’s shirt on the floor, she is horrified. But this is no ordinary one-night-stand regret.

Laura suffers from severe face-blindness, a condition that means she is completely unable to identify and remember faces. So the man she spent all night dancing with and kissing – the man she thought she’d brought home – was ‘Pink Shirt’.

But the shirt on her floor is blue.

And now Laura must go to work every day, and face the man who took advantage of her condition. The man she has no way of recognising.

She doesn’t know who he is . . . but when she finds him she’ll make him pay.

Everybody hides the monster inside…

When Olivia Midhurst meets Michael, she doesn’t fool herself that he’s the perfect guy. No one is perfect—she knows that better than most. Everyone has their secrets, their skeletons in the closet.

But something about Michael’s behaviour sets alarm bells ringing, and, when people around her start to go missing, and then turn up dead, she’s forced to act.

Knowing the police will never believe what she’s witnessed, and terrified her accusations will only drag up the past she’s worked so hard to bury, Olivia has no choice but to take things into her own hands…

M.K. Farrar

M.K. Farrar is the pen name for a USA Today Bestselling author of more than thirty novels. ‘Some They Lie’ is her first psychological thriller, but won’t be her last.
